The New York City Human Rights Initiative (NYCHRI) commemorates the 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR)with a 60 Day Human Rights Campaign from October 10 to December 10, 2008. Our coalition's mission is to advance the use of the human rights framework to end economic and social injustice and discrimination in New York City. We are working to serve as a vehicle for change that holds elected officials accountable to the demands of our communities and organizations. Our main goal is to influence and determine the local political agenda to advance all human rights including housing, education, labor, criminal justice, health, child welfare, immigration, gender rights, etc. Through this process we are also building the human rights movement in our society. We encourage you to be part of NYCHRI and work together to achieve our collective goals. Please visit www.nychri.org.
